Frequently Asked Questions

How are Lavish products different than other natural products?

Lavish Aromatic Botanical Products creates daily-use products that are therapeutic yet luxurious. We offer specialized products designed to target specific ailments, conditions or complaints. Our products contain only 100% pure essential oils expertly blended for their aromatherapeutic properties and health benefits. Unlike most “natural” products, Lavish products do not contain synthetic fragrances. We infuse herbs into the base of our products, use only natural and safe preservatives, superior quality oils and additives.

Where are Lavish products manufactured?

Lavish products are produced and packaged onsite at our retail store in San Diego, California. Each batch of product is produced by hand in small quantities to ensure premium quality.

Does Lavish test on animals?

Absolutely not. Our products are people-tested.

Where does Lavish get their botanicals and ingredients?

The essential oils, plant oils, and herbs found in Lavish products are grown all over the world. The plants are harvested, distilled and processed at specialized factories. The botanical materials are then sold to Lavish in bulk quantity, ready to be transformed into quality products.

What preservatives are in Lavish products?

Many of our products do not need preservatives, such as our bar soaps, powdered bath products, lip care, mineral makeup, perfumes, essential oils, diffuser oils and candles.

Oil based products such as massage oils and body scrubs, are enhanced with vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract, rosemary extract and black willowbark. These natural plant derivatives extend the shelf life of the oils by preventing oxidation (rancidity).

Water-based products such as air fresheners, toners and mists contain potassium sorbate This safe additive ensures that the water and herbal infusions resist growth of bacteria.

Creams and lotions require the addition of an antimicrobial preservative. Lavish has selected Cosmocil (polyaminopropyl biguanide) because it is safe, mild, and non-irritating. This preservative was developed for the contact lens industry and is often found in baby care products.

What is the shelf life of Lavish Products?

Lavish recommends using your products within one year of purchase to ensure maximum aromatherapeutic benefits. Though the products should not spoil, the medicinal potency of the herbs and oils will begin to decline after this amount of time.

Do I need to refrigerate Lavish Products?

NO, our products are completely shelf stable. However, it is best to store your products in a cool location away from direct sunlight to preserve the potency of the essential oils and herbs.

Fruit Frescas, on the other hand, should be refrigerated. These fresh fruit body treatments are available for purchase only at the Lavish store. Because they are perishable, we do not ship them. To learn more about Fruit Frescas click here.

Can I buy Lavish products wholesale?

Sorry, Lavish does not sell wholesale. Our products are only available directly through us via our retail store or website www.lavishproducts.com.

How do I purchase a Lavish Gift Certificate?

Gift Certificates can be purchased in any denomination by calling our store during business hours, 10:30am – 6:00pm PST. The gift certificate will be mailed via USPS to you or your recipient.

I cannot tolerate scents. What products can I use?

Many people who normally cannot tolerate scents or have adverse reactions to perfumed products are able to use and enjoy Lavish products because there is no synthetic component to trigger an allergy. Specifically, items made with citrus aromas may be a good option because they smell fresh and clean, like just peeled fruit. Lavish also produces an Aroma Free body lotion. Lavish baby products are another option.

What is the difference between a sugar scrub and a salt scrub?

Both types of Lavish body scrubs provide exceptional exfoliation, hydration and circulatory stimulation. Sugar is gentle and mild. It can be used by those with even the most sensitive skin. Salt is cleansing and detoxifying. It stimulates the skin giving a warming (almost prickly) sensation.

Are you supposed to use soap after the body scrubs?

No. Scrubbing should be the last step of your shower. Wash with soap first, then turn off the shower and massage the scrub over your entire body for 3-5 minutes. You will need a full scoop of scrub for each body part. Then, rinse well with warm water. The oils and butters should remain on the skin. They will absorb into your skin as you towel off.

How long does a bar Lavish soap last?

Hand-made Lavish soap is amazing. Our bars do not crack, split, get soggy or gummy. For best results, keep the bar on a properly drained soap dish or shower caddy, away from dripping or splashing water. One bar will give you approximately 12-14 showers. If you lather the soap onto a body puff, the bar will last you even longer. When used for washing hands at the sink, a bar will likely last a family 1-2 months.

What is a carrier oil?

A carrier oil, also called a base oil, is vegetable oil used to dilute essential oils. Without proper dilution, essential oils may cause irritation to the skin. Examples of commonly used carrier oils are almond oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil and olive oil.

What is a diffuser (oil burner) and how do I use it?

A diffuser is a apparatus for warming essential oils so that their aroma and therapeutic benefits are released into the air.

To use, put approximately 20 drops of diffuser oil or essential oil(s) into the glass dish. Adding water to the dish is not recommended. Light the tea-light candle beneath. In about 5 minutes, the oils will begin to steam and evaporate. When oils have finished burning add more to the dish or blow out candle. Wipe out residue after burning. Occasionally wash dish with soap and water.
