There are numerous ways essential oils can be used and applied. When practicing aromatherapy, Lavish recommends using a method that makes the most common sense in reaching the problem area or concern.
Essential oils are highly concentrated substances. Without proper dilution, essential oils may cause dermal irritation. It is advised to dilute them before applying them to the skin.
A base oil, also called a carrier oil, is a vegetable oil used to dilute essential oils. We recommend using Lavish’s 100% Pure Fractionated Coconut Oil or 100% Pure Jojoba Oil.
NOTE: Never use mineral oil as a carrier oil! It is a petroleum derived product, which cannot be absorbed by the skin. Using mineral oil can clog pores, trigger breakouts, and hinder the essential oils' ability to penetrate the skin.
ATTENTION: NEVER INGEST ESSENTIAL OILS. NEVER PUT ESSENTIAL OILS INTO OR NEAR EYES. ESSENTIAL OILS WILL IRRITATE MUCOUS MEMBRANES, PLEASE USE CATION.
Good for skin conditions, muscle tone
Blend 1-2 drops essential oil(s) into 1 teaspoon carrier oil. Dip fingertips in oil, and massage over face in circular motions. It is not necessary to rinse skin.
Good for localized aches and pains, poor circulation, stress relief
Blend up to 20 drops of essential oil(s) into 1 tablespoon carrier oil. Massage over body.
Good for stress relief, aches, soreness, poor circulation
Blend 5-10 drops into carrier oil. Massage onto feet and calves.
Good for scalp problems, headache, stress relief
Blend 5-10 drops of essential oil(s) into carrier oil. Massage onto temples, neck and scalp, parting hair as necessary so oil reaches the skin.
Good for pain relief, sprains, muscle cramps, swelling, bedsores, boils
Apply several drops of essential oil directly to affected area, wrap tightly with a bandage.

Apply several drops of essential oil to affected area. Cover area with a heating pad.
Good for pain relief, fever reduction, sprains, swelling, inflammation
Soak a towel in ice water. Wring out excess water. Apply several drops essential oil to towel and wrap affected area.
Good for general detoxification, aches/soreness, skin conditions, stress relief
Add 4-12 drops of essential oil(s) to warm bathwater. Soak for 20 minutes.

Run a hot shower to create steam. Put 10 drops of essential oil(s) onto shower floor. If desired, temporarily plug drain so oils do not immediately wash away. Breathe in vapors.
Good for general detoxification, aches, fungal infections
Put 5-8 drops of essential oil into basin of warm water. Soak feet for 10 minutes.
Good for burns, pimples, cuts, warts, fungus
Add several drops of essential oil to carrier oil or lotion, or apply directly to affected area.
Good for colds and flu, throat or mouth infections
put 3-5 drops of essential oil(s) into 1/3 cup water. Gargle, swish and rinse a few times. DO NOT SWALLOW.
Good for dry, oily or itchy scalp conditions, dandruff, hair loss, growth stimulation
Dispense shampoo/conditioner into palm. Add 5 drops essential oil(s). Use fingertip to mix. Work into hair and scalp. Leave in for 5 minutes, then rinse.
Good for immune system, emotional well being, skin conditions
Blend essential oil(s) into an unscented lotion such as Lavish’s Aroma Free Lotion. You can also add additional essential oils to your favorite Lavish body lotion or face cream.

Put approximately 15-20 drops of essential oil(s) into diffuser dish with ¼ teaspoon fractionated coconut oil. Burn for up to 30 minutes.

Air Freshener/Linen Spray/Pillow Mist:

Add up to 100 drops to a 2 oz. spray bottle of purified water. Shake well. Mist around home and onto linens and pillows.

Drop approximately 5 drops of essential oil in random locations onto vacuum bag. Scent will diffuse into air when the vacuum is used.
Good for eliminating germs and odors
Put a few drops of essential oil onto damp sponge or cleaning cloth. Wipe over area to be disinfected such as kitchen countertops, bathroom areas. NOTE: do not use on wood or varnished/painted items.
Once you become acquainted with the fresh scent of essential oils, you may find synthetic fragrances bothersome.
Using a single essential oil to treat a condition is highly effective. Yet, sometimes it is beneficial to blend together several oils to create a complex compound that can offer a wider spectrum of benefits.
